About Epiwart Solution

Epiwart Solution belongs to a class of drugs called ‘keratolytic agents’ used to treat skin conditions like warts and remove calluses and corns. Verrucas and warts are small excessive growths of skin that are caused by a virus. Warts occur on the back of hands or fingers whereas verrucas occur only on the sole. Corns and calluses are thick, hard pads of skin caused by friction and pressure that usually occur on the feet due to poor-fitting shoes.

Epiwart Solution is a combination of two keratolytic agents, namely: Lactic acid and Salicylic acid. Epiwart Solution works by breaking down a skin protein known as keratin and removes dead skin cells, thereby softening skin. Epiwart Solution acts as an acid exfoliant that softens and dissolves the keratin. Besides this, it also helps to slow down the shedding of skin, thereby allowing the skin to function longer before flaking off. Thus, Epiwart Solution softens and dissolves keratin (skin protein) and prevents acne formation and further bacterial skin infections.

Use Epiwart Solution as advised by your doctor. Epiwart Solution is only for external use. You are advised to use Epiwart Solution for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. Some people may experience a burning sensation, itching, scaling, skin dryness, mild tingling sensation, or tenderness at the application site. Most of these side effects of Epiwart Solution do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Epiwart Solution or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Epiwart Solution. Avoid applying to surrounding healthy skin, especially in children as it may irritate. You need not cover the treated area with sticking plaster. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as they can catch fire and burn easily. Do not apply Epiwart Solution on cuts, grazes, and broken skin.

Medicinal Benefits

Epiwart Solution is a combination of two keratolytic agents, Lactic acid and Salicylic acid, used in the treatment of skin conditions like warts and the removal of calluses and corns. Lactic acid also possesses antiviral properties and kills the virus that causes verrucas and warts.

Directions for Use

Wash your hands before and after applying Epiwart Solution. You are advised to soak the affected area in warm water for 2-3 minutes and let it dry thoroughly. Apply a thin coating of Epiwart Solution to the top of warts, verrucas, calluses and corns only. Then, let it dry for a few minutes to form a small white patch that is water-resistant and sticks to the treated area. The next evening, before applying Epiwart Solution, carefully peel off the white patch and repeat the same process. Avoid contact of Epiwart Solution with normal skin, nose, mouth, eyes, breasts, armpits or genital area. Patients Concern

Disease/Condition Glossary

Warts: These are small excessive growths of skin caused by a virus. Warts occur on the back of hands or fingers whereas verrucas occur only on the sole. Common warts have a rough cauliflower-like appearance on the surface. Verrucas looks like a small white ring of skin with a black dot in the center and is painful. If left untreated, warts and verrucas grow and spread as the virus is highly infectious and can be contagious (spread from person to person).

Corns and calluses: These are thick, hard pads of skin caused by friction and pressure that usually occur on the feet due to poor-fitting shoes. They can also occur on hands.
