Flexabenz Gel is used to relieve acute musculoskeletal pain and osteoarthritis. It effectively reduces pain, swelling, and joint stiffness, thereby improving your ability to move and flex the joint. Osteoarthritis is a long term musculoskeletal joint disorder that causes damage to the cartilage and surrounding tissues characterized by pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function.

Flexabenz Gel contains diclofenac sodium, linseed oil, methyl salicylate, menthol, and cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride. Diclofenac sodium and methyl salicylate work by lowering hormones in the body that cause inflammation and pain. Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride acts on the brain and nervous system to relax the muscles. Linseed oil inhibits inflammatory mediators like leukotrienes, thereby reducing inflammation. Menthol is a soothing and cooling agent which provides a cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels. Together, Flexabenz Gel helps relieve mild to moderate pain in musculoskeletal and joint conditions.

Flexabenz Gel is only for external use. Use Flexabenz Gel for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience common side effects such as itching, irritation, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. The majority of these side effects do not necessitate medical attention and will subside gradually over time. However, if you are experiencing these side effects regularly, you should consult your doctor.

Please do not use Flexabenz Gel without a doctor’s advice if you have a skin reaction or irritation to any medicine. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use Flexabenz Gel in more than prescribed doses or for a longer duration as it may cause adverse effects. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines to rule out any side effects. Do not take any other NSAIDs for pain relief along with Flexabenz Gel unless prescribed. Flexabenz Gel is not recommended for children below 14 years as safety and efficacy have not been established.

Treatment of Pain

Flexabenz Gel is a combination of five drugs: Diclofenac sodium, Linseed Oil, Methyl Salicylate, Menthol, and Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride. Diclofenac sodium and Methyl Salicylate are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which work by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation. Cyclobenzaprine hydrochloride is a skeletal muscle relaxant. It acts on the brain and nervous system to relax the muscles. Linseed oil possesses an anti-inflammatory action that inhibits inflammatory mediators like leukotrienes, thereby reducing inflammation. Menthol is a soothing and cooling agent which provides a cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels, followed by an analgesic effect. It also enhances the penetration of drugs. Together, Flexabenz Gel helps provide relief from mild to moderate pain in musculoskeletal and joint conditions.

Gel/Cream/Ointment: Flexabenz Gel is only for external use. Take a small amount of Flexabenz Gel on the fingertip and apply it as a thin layer on the clean and dry affected area as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid contact of the Flexabenz Gel with the nose or eyes. In case of accidental contact with these areas, rinse with water thoroughly. Wash your hands before and after using Flexabenz Gel if your hands are not the affected area to prevent the spread of infection.Spray: It is only for external use. Check the label for directions before using the spray. Shake well before each use. Spray the contents from a 5cm distance on the affected area.

Do not take Flexabenz Gel if you are allergic to any of its contents. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines you take to rule out any side effects. Do not use Flexabenz Gel if you experience asthma, urticaria or allergy after taking a pain killer. Do not take any other pain killers for pain relief along with Flexabenz Gel unless prescribed. Consult your doctor before starting Flexabenz Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Drug-Drug Interactions: Flexabenz Gel may have interaction with pain killer medicines (e.g. aspirin), blood thinners or anticoagulant medicines (e.g. warfarin), and medicines used for the treatment of venous thrombosis (e.g. anisindione, dicumarol).

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor if you have had asthma, urticaria (a skin reaction), renal dysfunction or impairment, heart failure, hypertension, and coagulation problems.

• Exercising regularly helps in muscle stretching so that they are less likely to spasm, tear and sprain. Mild exercises such as jogging and walking are helpful for muscle stretching.

• Massages can also be helpful.

• Avoid freezing and hot temperatures.

• Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes, instead, wear loose garments.

• Rest well, get plenty of sleep.

• To avoid developing pressure sores, change your position at least every two hours.

• Hot or cold therapy can help treat muscle spasms. Apply an ice-pack or hot-pack on the muscle for 15-20minutes.

• Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water.

• Do not apply on open wounds, cuts, abrasions or infected wounds.
• Do not apply any bandages after application of Flexabenz Gel unless suggested by your doctor.
• Avoid contact of Flexabenz Gel with eyes and mucous membranes.
